Imagine! Print Solutions Adopts Metrix®
to Advance Efficiency, Flexibility, and Automation
Phoenix, Arizona, July 8, 2008 - LithoTechnics, developer
of Metrix, award-winning, intelligent job planning and imposition
system, announced today that Imagine! Print Solutions, headquartered
in Minneapolis and one of the fastest growing printing companies
in the US, has completed the installation and training for
the largest Metrix system configuration to date.
Bernice Bishop of A P Graph, Inc., a Metrix
reseller since early 2007, presented and promoted the Metrix
workflow and its capabilities. "Imagine! offers a complete
point-of-purchase package, which includes everything from
packaging to flyers to advertising to signage, UV printing,
finishing, including kitting and fulfillment" said Bishop.
"Imagine! was drawn to Metrix because their planning
needs are very complex, particularly for the POP projects,
where everything must be done in a particular order, on time,
and with a huge inventory of different types of equipment
and substrates." Bishop concluded, "Imagine! has
certainly put Metrix through its paces and tested the upper
limits of its functionality and productivity, particularly
the Auto Plan feature, which allows them to plan multiple
jobs, substrates, and presses through the Metrix rules-based
engine and let it do its magic. Metrix has come through with
flying colors."
Paul Sorenson, Planning Manager at Imagine!
Print Solutions, said: "We carefully analyzed the ability
of Metrix to handle the intricacies of our work before we
made the purchasing decision." Sorenson continued, "Metrix
proved its worth and then some. On several of the larger jobs
we've run through Metrix, Auto Plan can save us an entire
shift of work just in planning. Estimating has found big benefits
as well. By letting the Metrix engine try various sheet sizes
and presses - based on costing, which is extremely important
- our estimators are finding more efficient and profitable
production plans. And, the prepress department was relieved
of the imposition burden. Flexibility was another huge bonus
since quantities are always changing at the last minute. With
Metrix this problem has become a virtual non-issue - with
a couple of clicks we can make the changes and redo the plan
and the imposition." Sorenson was especially impressed
with the ease of use and short learning curve: "Metrix
was so easy to understand and get to know that we were able
to do all of our own training on site. Each planner had 4
hours of initial hands-on training, and 4 hours of follow
up training, and then they were off and running." Sorenson
added, "We have four business units using Metrix and
they all love it. In fact, consistencies that have been gained
through Metrix enable our business units to work more closely
together."
Rohan Holt, President of LithoTechnics, remarked,
"Customers like Imagine! Print Solutions validate our
vision and our efforts. It is extremely rewarding to develop
tools for the printing industry that really make a difference.
And it is especially exciting to welcome Imagine! - and the
largest installation to date - to our family of Metrix users."
The Metrix 3.0 family includes Metrix Commercial,
Metrix Max, Metrix X-8 and Metrix X-80, targeted at different
segments of the commercial print market. All editions are
available on Mac OS X and Windows, and all automatically plan
and impose flat, folded, and bound work. All editions can
import JDF and export imposed PDF. Select editions include
Auto Plan, and export various forms of JDF for prepress and
finishing. The entire Metrix family is available in English,
German, Spanish, and French.
