LithoTechnics and Tharstern to demonstrate
MIS-Job Layout JDF integration at IPEX
Sydney, Australia, March 31, 2006 - LithoTechnics
Pty Limited and Tharstern Limited announced today that they
will be cooperating via JDF link in live demonstrations at
the upcoming IPEX trade show in Birmingham,
UK.
Visitors to the Tharstern stand (#20-C45) will
see the latest achievement in linking MIS with job planning
using the Job Definition Format (JDF). TharsternSQL and LithoTechnics'
Metrix will work together to streamline planning, estimating,
and imposition. The capabilities of TharsternSQL to plan an
entire publication and describe it in JDF will be combined
with the ability of Metrix 2.0 to read and interpret the JDF
and automatically calculate the complete layout for all signatures.
Through this demonstration, the companies are proving in practice
that JDF is a viable protocol for automation today.
Rohan Holt, founder of LithoTechnics, states
"We are very pleased to be working with Tharstern on
this link between MIS and job planning. Tharstern recognized
early on the true value of JDF in realizing print production
automation, and this demonstration is the continuation of
that effort." Holt adds, "The beauty of JDF is that
it enables the seamless linkage between various systems and
applications - and this is one link that will bring tremendous
value to our customers."
Keith McMurtrie, Managing Director of
Tharstern, adds, "The JDF integration between TharsternSQL
and Metrix 2.0 offers significant added value for our customers,
who will be able to use Metrix to calculate and graphically
review the signature layout based on the job information exported
from Tharstern. It is an exciting development, and we are
excited to be working with LithoTechnics to bring this solution
to the print industry."
