LithoTechnics Announces Metrix® Version 3.0,
for Windows and OS X
Phoenix, Arizona, September 9, 2007 -
LithoTechnics, Inc., developer of Metrix, the award-winning
automatic layout calculator, announced today that Metrix version
3.0 will be demonstrated for the first time at GraphExpo®
2007 in Chicago.
Metrix 3.0 introduces many new capabilities
including the following:
Mac OS X support: Metrix 3 will be
available on both Windows and Mac OS X platforms.
Automatic Allocation: Another industry
first for LithoTechnics and a significant step towards complete
automation of ganged layouts. In addition to calculating
the optimum fit for products on individual press sheets
as Metrix has always done, the Automatic Allocation functionality
of Metrix 3.0 also calculates optimum product assignment
across multiple press sheets and presses, based on actual
production costs and/or total press times.
Dynamic Barcodes: Metrix 3.0 provides
the ability to generate dynamic and product-specific barcodes
that are used for automatic product identification, finishing
specifications, and/or shipping and billing instructions.
Intelligent Drag & Drop: Metrix
3.0 drag-and-drop provides increased ease-of-use for layouts
that require operator intervention. Dragged products automatically
snap into position against the press sheet edges or other
products on the sheet, automatically considering press non-image
area and product bleeds, etc. This feature also enables
instant step-and-repeat of products or groups of products.
Rohan Holt, founder of LithoTechnics, said,
"Metrix 3.0 builds on the core technological foundation
and methodology established in version 1, but takes job engineering
automation another important step forward. With Metrix 3.0,
printers have access to an even more powerful tool that will
deliver long sought solutions to their efficiency and profitability
challenges."
The Metrix family, for Macintosh and Windows,
includes Mini Metrix, for the smaller print shop, in 21"
and 30" versions, with imposed PDF output. Metrix Commercial,
for the general commercial printer, accommodates sheet sizes
of up to 144" and outputs imposed PDF, JDF/PDF, or Preps®
templates, along with export of CIP3 and JDF cutting and folding
data. Metrix Ganging, for gang run printers, automatically
imposes up to 160 products per sheet, and Metrix Max, the
top of the range, includes the complete functionality of all
editions. Metrix Commercial, Ganging, and Max are also available
with multiple user site licenses, and the whole Metrix family
is available in English, German, and Spanish.
