Sydney, Australia, February 28, 2008
- LithoTechnics Pty Limited, developer of Metrix®, the award-winning
automatic, intelligent job planning and imposition system,
announced today that Metrix 3.0 has been released.
Rohan Holt, President of LithoTechnics, stated,
"With printers facing ever greater efficiency and profitability
challenges, it is imperative that job engineering - that is,
job planning - take into consideration not only press time
and consumables usage, but also actual production costs. Metrix
3.0 makes this possible for the first time. Metrix 3.0 can
take hundreds of jobs - bound, flat, and/or folded - and automatically
plan them across multiple presses and press runs. But here's
the important point: Metrix 3.0 finds solutions on the basis
of the lowest possible production cost. It has been a dream
of mine for quite some time to achieve this - and with Metrix
3.0 we truly have an automated and intelligent planning and
imposition system that rationalizes print production."
Metrix 3.0 highlights:
Auto Plan: In addition to generating
layouts that optimize one or more products on individual
press sheets as Metrix has always done, Auto Plan calculates
optimum product assignment across multiple presses and press
runs, based on actual production costs.
Mac OS X support: Metrix 3.0 is available
for Windows and Mac OS X.
Dynamic Barcodes: Metrix 3.0 can generate
dynamic and product-specific barcodes used for automatic
product identification, finishing specifications, and/or
shipping and billing instructions.
Intelligent Drag & Drop: Metrix
3.0 drag-and-drop provides increased ease-of-use for layouts
that require operator intervention. Dragged products automatically
snap into position against the press sheet edges or other
products on the sheet. This feature also enables instant
step-and-repeat of products or groups of products.
The Metrix 3.0 family includes Metrix Commercial,
Metrix Max, Metrix X-8 and Metrix X-80, targeted at different
segments of the commercial print market. All editions are
available on Mac OS X and Windows, and all automatically plan
and impose flat, folded, and bound work as well as ganged
work. All editions can import JDF and export imposed PDF.
Select editions include Auto Plan, and export various forms
of JDF for prepress and finishing. The entire Metrix family
is available in English, German, Spanish, and French.
